Commissioner Rath's second case - leads into the glamorous film world, which is currently in transition.
The sound film conquers the cinemas. But that doesn't seem to suit one person at all.

Gereon Rath is called to a mysterious death. Betty Winter, an aspiring actress, dies while filming. Was it an accident or murder? Rath investigates and gets to know the downsides of the glittering world. The intoxication for success leads to power struggles and intrigues to the point of sabotage.

It gets interesting when Rath, as a private detective, is supposed to look for a missing actress and another death is found. Is there a serial killer walking around in Berlin? Are the cases connected? Rath usually investigates alone and once again has contact with the underworld. Will it be okay?

Ever since I read “The Wet Fish” (Babylon Berlin) I've been a fan of Gereon Rath, his own witty manner either makes me smile or shake my head. I found the second volume to be much weaker than the first, which was terrific. The plot was often predictable. Especially the cinema killer was quickly tracked down. Nevertheless, it is a successful and exciting criminal case. In my case, Charly Ritter could have appeared a little more often. But maybe you will learn more about them in the third part. I'm curious how things will continue with her and Rath.

The book gets 3.5/5 stars from me
