What a human book. Diana was a marvel, and Morton is such a great writer for her story.

The pros:
- This is clearly Diana being able to tell her story in a place where she wasn't given the opportunity to do that and that alone deserves to be celebrated.
- I loved how much effort was spent in the update to share the transcripts from the tapes, then the book from 1992, then the update of the aftermath. This book definitely aimed to be as thorough as possible.
- You can really feel what Diana is feeling throughout the storytelling.
The cons:
- The story can feel a little scattered at times as you bounce around points of times and people so it can feel difficult to follow.
- There were times where, even though it was a biography/autobiography of Diana, there are critical moments that are just glossed over that should have been dipped deeper into (for example, pages and pages are spent talking about Charles and Camilla, but then it's just a few sentences that mention Diana's lovers when I would have loved to hear more about where she was able to find that happiness)
- Obviously, the information is pretty outdated or well-known at this point (although this book does deserve credit for being the source that made this information known in the first place). But the problem that comes from this is particularly in the moments that deal with William and Harry and more recent news (post-Oprah interview time).
All in all, I would recommend this if you're interested in the Royal family because this was really the foundation for investigative and first-person sourcing journalism in that space. But I would also suggest you consume other information in order to get a more comprehensive view of the situation. I particularly love the You're Wrong About... podcast series about Diana which is well worth a listen.
