This was a wonderful surprise of a book and I loved every page. When the story starts, you meet Woody, who does what he's done every weekday morning since he'd graduated high school and started working for his brother in his construction business. He goes into his best friend and long time crushes convenient store and buys breakfast and matching lottery tickets for himself and Eddie. Unlike the many tickets over the years, this one turns out to be a winner for both men.
The story has a great backstory for both characters, but you understand throughout the book why Woody is the more hesitant out of the two. Eddie family is absolutely spectacular, funny, and one you find yourself wanting to be a part of. Both men realize they want to travel and see more of the world, and it also benefits them so Woody can get away from his toxic parents.
After they win the lottery, Eddie and Woody now feel they can express their attraction for each other, one that started during high school, and finally be free to be together the way they want. You can feel the love coming from both of them, love for each other, and you root for these two throughout the book.
It is a unique read, focusing on Woody and Eddie's travels, their relationship with their family and friends back home, and the fact they won the lottery and now can do anything they want. It was so intriguing that I couldn't put it down and now I highly recommend you get to know Woody and Eddie, and their assorted crazy family, for yourself! A lovely must-read!!

DNF at 35 percent. Not feeling it. Everything happens way too quickly, the romance is glossed over (first they're both afraid to make a move for twenty years and after one kiss it's like they've been in a romantic relationship for years) and it feels more like the travel log of two comedians.

Woody and Eddie have been friends since high school. When they win the lottery, they finally decide to act on their feelings for each other and travel the world.
It's a cute story, but I thought it could have been a lot better. I would have liked more backstory on their relationship and why they finally decided to consummate the relationship. Yes, I read it and even went back over that part several times, but it seemed like they barely talked to each other except when Woody went into Eddie's store to buy lottery tickets, then boom, they won a lot of money and were suddenly messing around like bunnies. Maybe it's me, but I wanted a little more romance and wanted to see more of what they were like before they won the money.
The travelogue part was fine, especially in Alaska, but I felt I was still getting only a surface view of the two guys. It's a quick read, maybe too quick, because I wanted more. Maybe we'll see a sequel of their further travels and some flashbacks to their teen and young adult years.
