I didn’t realise this was part of a series until I logged it on here. I feel if I had maybe read the others first, some of it would be more enjoyable, but you can definitely read this as a standalone book.
I had started to figure out what had happened to Conrad, but there were other twists in the story that kept me interested. I enjoyed the focus on being a woman in a male dominated world, but I did feel like that glossed over some of the more concerning elements of the story, such as the implication that Carrie was abusing Dominic as a child.

A masterful thriller, a gripping story, a brilliant, silent battle of wills between the cleverest of characters. Unputdownable.

Waw. WAW!
I absolutely loved that booked. When I first started it, I was really wondering where it was going: yes ok, a body has been discovered at school and she is looking for her brother…
But THEN, all of the plots changed and the drama and new characters introduced towards the end? Fantastic!
The book is very feminist, and strong and combative way. That was extremely enjoyable.
And the touch about pronouns at the end… loved it!
It is also extremely well written… you know when you read book where it is almost like you don’t know what you’re reading? Harris takes you in that world with her. Brilliant!
