Shadow revisits the lake, where the car the townfolk were betting on still sits on the ice. At the end of comic #7, Shadow realizes, the girl is in the trunk. He returns and finds the missing child, and a slew of sunken cars also holding the remains of missing children. Hinzelmann rescues him from the lake and Shadow learns that it was him that made a deal with Wednesday and to keep the town prosperous, he had to sacrifice one child a winter. The police officer comes in and kills Hinzelmann after eavesdropping on his and Shadow’s conversation.

I liked this issue. It was short and sweet. It provided a little bit of lore and closed up a minor plotline in the series.
