P. G. Wodehouse forms sentences with such wit and nifty turns of phrase. You can’t help but enjoy the writing style. The inter-workings of the plot also give pleasure as unexpected twists arise. The concluding chapters of this one may fall a little below his customary high level, but still it all puts a smile on the face.

This is the first Wodehouse novel I have read, and it was a pleasant surprise. I thought the story would drag on and on, but after the first chapter, I absolutely loved it and found myself laughing out loud, it was as if I were watching an old British crime-comedy.

Wodehouse wordplay and a few new twists plus one old one, so to speak, on a standard Wodehouse plot. What's not to enjoy?

The amazing thing about Wodehousian humour is that it is almost always spectacular. And this one was too. Honestly, soapy and Dolly Molloy didn't hook me in right away like the empress or pelican at Blandings does, but only a few pages in, I was laughing quite audibly no matter where I was reading. Wodehouse is brilliant.

Wodehouse is in fine form here. Only can the master turn a crime novel into a farcical comedy of romantic proportions. The mystery, as it were, is solved; the guy gets the girl, and of course, all is well in the end.
