While I enjoyed this book a lot and thought it was a compelling installation in the series, it wasn't my favourite of Klune's books to date. There were a few things I took issue with-- including the low-key demonisation of medication for anxiety (and its subsequent turn into an addiction) with no further talk of other ways to manage anxiety with medication. This is something I find personally troubling, as I believe medication can be used to great effect when used responsibly and in connection with other resources.

The recurring trope of the "the meds turned me into a zombie" in contemporary fiction is one I'd like to see go away. While I know it's not an uncommon occurrence, there are adjustments that can be made and other options, etc and it's something I always wish more books would explore *thoughtfully* rather than moving into "they turned me into a zombie and then I ended up abusing them." Anyway.
