This book holds a special place in my library because it is one of the first "adult" novels I read. It's a good story with strong characters and a twisted plot. It does read a little like a overindulgent drama with too many coincidences for my taste, but those coincidences do set up very good stories. The voice is strong and while the reader is privy to all the dirt in every characters life I think it's hard not to empathize with some, if not most, through Sheldon's writing style

It's funny how much my opinion of a book can change in the 10 years between the first and second time reading through.
Was I thoroughly entertained by this soap opera like plot line? Absolutely.
Have I finally realized how ridiculously women are portrayed in this book? You betcha.
If I had to hear one more time how gorgeous and fit every main character was, I was going to vomit. And the fact that every woman's primary motivation was either tricking a man into being with them or getting rich... *gag*
This book is what it is, but I am severely disappointed in myself for once upon a time believing that these were strong female leads when really they were just manipulative sociopaths.

I read this covertly when I was about 12. It was a fun read and exposed me to the written equivalent of junk food.
