Review: I have never finished a book and felt so angry and emotionally violated. This book is constantly compared to The Perks of Being a Wallflower and I see why. They are both about high school freshman and are written in letter format. For me that is where the similarities end. My main problem wasn't with the writing or the plot. The dynamic between Laurel and her sister (before her sister died) left me so utterly frustrated. I have read books that have left me to ponder and really think about life, this book however left me enraged and hurt. I overall have mixed feelings about this book. I did enjoy the side characters and watching them grow. If I could say anything it would be a warning, this book does pose some questions in regards to what it means to love someone but ultimately made me quite sad for the duration of the book. I am usually a fan of works with darker undertones but something about this story lacked any sense of hope for healing until the end of the novel.
Would I recommend it?: Yes. I still would recommend this book because it did contain some beautiful quotes and moments that interlocked to create a gripping story.

There were moments were i felt the book inmature, silly, slow and not well writen but with each letter i truly understand laurel and why she was doing what she was doing even when i almost scream at the pages because of how stupid was what she was or wasn't doing, at the end it really got me, i cried, like a lot in a good way.

Very interesting read - not life changing, but I think it opens a good discussion for teens

With so much hype around this book, I'd expected Love Letters to the dead to be better. The characters didn't feel real, and though the protagonist was my age, I didn't relate to her too much.

The plot was so common-
SpoilerSibling/ parent/ friend died, main character meets new people and discovers the world without dead person, finds a love interest, struggles with talking about dead person.
This works sometimes- The Sky is Everywhere, Perks of Being a Wallflower, but in Love Letters to the dead by Ava Dellaira it just seemed like that angle was added to compensate for a lack of a well designed storyline.

unfortunately this took me a long time to finish because I was going through stupid stuff and unfortunately the way the book it was written wasn't interesting for me to forget my stupid stuff. nice sentences I could use some of them to write them down but still not interesting for me. overall the whole idea of writing letters to the dead famous people was a good idea. but at the end of the book where she talks about what happened to her I couldn't stop thinking about "perks of being a wallflower". the writing letters, losing someone she'd loved, what happened to her and all was like what happened in POBAW and that was ... a disappointment for me because no one wants to read the same story twice. I dont usually give bad reviews unless the book annoys me but here I am. and I appreciate the LGBT representation in this book but omg it was so frustrating with hanna dating other guys. and the love story between her and sky was so simple and shallow
