This is a lovely, relaxing, joyful read that made my heart warm. The writing whisks you off to the tropical island, and you get a real sense of the community.
It has some very amusing parts, as well as a couple of moments that brought a tear to my eye. Overall it is just an escapist pleasure of a book.
Each day I really didn't want to put the book down, which is a sign of a good book. The very end was a little disappointing, as it didn't feel quite in the same depth as the rest of the book, but I believe this is because it will be part of a series. I really hope that is the case, as I'd love to get back to this wonderful cast of characters (animals included).
I'd recommend to lovers of books like Miss Benson's Beetle, or lovers of animals and exotic locations. A very enjoyable read.

Oh my days, this book is a joyful, sunny hug! I really didn't want it to end 🌞
Through her writing Francesca Segal has created her happy place, something she was craving for in a book but couldn't find.
Welcome to Glorious Tuga is set on the fictional Caribbean island Tuga de Oro, this small, close-knit, and quirky community is nurturing and supportive, though far from perfect! Expect conservation, beautiful scenery, romance, plenty of giggles and a good sprinkling of secrets.
Newly arrived Charlotte, a young vet from England, is on a mission to rescue a species and find herself. Native Dan, returns as a qualified doctor, to take over and modernise his uncle’s 30 year old practice. Their journeys are heartwarming and full of unexpected twists.
Welcome To Glorious Tuga is gorgeously written with vivid characters and stunning island descriptions, this story is alive with laughs and serious topics. Part of a trilogy, I’m already missing the characters, it makes my heart swell just to think of it. I can’t wait for the next installment!
I read this at part of a readalong, thanks to Tandemcollectiveuk, vintagebooks and chattobooks for the gorgeous physical copy @NetGalley for the digital copy.

🐢 Veterinarian and academic researcher, Charlotte Walker is a Londoner who has lived a sheltered and privileged life. To study the endangered gold coin tortoises, she sails to the remote island of Tuga de Oro. There she finds herself attracted to the new island doctor, Dr Dan Zekri and finds herself fully submerged in the care for local domesticated animals. However, the tortoises aren't the only reason for her new adventure, for Charlotte has a deeper, secret connection to the islanders, one that she is determined to unravel.
🐢 I really struggled to get into this book. I was only hooked to a few pages before getting distracted and not feeling connected to the place or the characters. The combination of different storylines within the plot along with the numerous characters and nature-focused language didn't do it for me. It really disappointed me that I couldn't fully fall in love because it has been written well and the imagination and creativity are exquisitely executed.

Welcome to Glorious Tuga was a much welcomed sunny piece of escapism, I had the best time reading it.
Tuga is a fictional island that has a small community of such wonderful wholesome characters. I am gutted that it is a fictional island as I honestly would have loved to visit there!
The writing is a joy to read, comforting and compelling, yet there are secrets a plenty on the island. Charlotte who has travelled to Tuga to study the endangered turtles has her own secrets too that link her to this small island community.
It is the perfect summer read bringing you rays of sunshine through the pages with such beautiful and immersive descriptions of the island. It is uplifting, funny yet emotional and thoughtful.
Welcome To Glorious Tuga is a story about discovering where you belong, friendship, family and love. I am so happy to hear that this is the first in a series as I wasn’t ready to leave behind these fantastic and eccentric characters, so many of them have a piece of my heart.
