A truth II.
Your opinion of me
Will never define who I truly am
And whatever you think of me
Holds no importance in my life

Anybody and everybody needs to read this poetry collection! It’s definitely for all the broken hearted people or the ones who are always feeling down. I always have felt inspired by his writing to keep my head up and continue doing what I’m doing no matter how down and depressed I feel. His poetry no matter which collection you read is always beautifully written and I always feel as if it’s specifically written for me! This one shows you can be down in the dumps and heartbroken but you still have a purpose to continue on even when you feel like you shouldn’t!

well, this book was definitely something. I personally do not enjoy modern poetry, by modern poetry I mean 'Instagram poetry' because...
this does
not
suddenly turn a
random sentence
into
poetry.
and I still stand by it after reading this collection. it lacks depth and meaning in most of the poems, these 480 pages could have been easily shrunk down to a >200 paged collection and still have not closed a single part of the theme or the meaning the writer was trying to go for.
there is so much beautiful and detailed, wonderful poem collection and books out there I would recommend than this book. the themes were generic and uncreative too, breakups, love, sex, healing. it was as if the writer took some self-help affirmations and quotes and just hit the 'enter' button a few aggreseive times to create the line breaks.
this is not good poetry, in fact, in my opinion, this was more like an unfinished draft...or someone's iPhone notes filled with thoughts and random inspirations, works in progress, etc. it was lacking some real editing for some of the poems. I did enjoy 10-20 poems though, the ones that are very obvious to you that they have been edited or at least, proofread. at the end of the day, for a casual and short collection of quotes and shower thoughts, go for it! if you want something deeper or a poetry collection with a clearer idea and more gems than this, try something like date & time by Phil Kaye, or night sky with exit wounds by ocean voung. they are so magical and unique and such a treasure.

I’m trying to read more poetry this year and I enjoyed this collection. I look forward to more work by this author.

I don't know why I keep doing this to myself -- why I keep reading these instagram poetry collections, hoping to find a modern poet that I can enjoy. One more disappointment.
Even cheese isn't as cheesy as some of the poems in this book.

This is really annoying as fuck. The writing was simple, can never be considered poetry. AND IT IS SO CLICHE AND CRINGE

after begging for a truth
that has been kept from you
emotional exhaustion sets in
you’ve been strong but now
you’re tired of being lied to
you’re tired of being denied
the respect that you’ve fought for
while fighting for a space in their life
the begging and pleading
is replaced with the silence of anger
the silence of resentment
the silence that seems the loudest
as your refusal to speak
screams of your disappointment
and your newfound commitment
to yourself
a silent declaration of the desire
to now detach your heart
from the heart that hurts you
after demanding the truth for so long
you’ve reached your breaking point” pg. 261
