Tight is contemporary middle-grade fiction about choices. In a world of literature inundated with middle-class voices, it's a breath of fresh air to find juvenile fiction that depicts a child from a lower-income environment dealing with real-life challenges. The book offers an honest examination of how friendships can go wrong, and what we can do about it.

Read by the author, the narration was awesome. A story about testing the boundaries and finding out what kind of person you want to be in this world.

Grades 6 and up.

A great story with a great lesson. It’s in the YA genre, Middle School age group, but as an adult I enjoyed the characters and the quick pace of the well written story. Will read more this this writer.

So. Good.
This is going to be a mirror/window book for readers. Regardless of how they approach this book, universal themes of friendship and making tough decisions will resonate with all.

Truth, this was a little to hip for me! I could barely keep up with the slang. Man, I am truly old. Anyway, this 4-star rating is not for me. It is for all those boys and girls out there who need books like this, who need to read about characters that reflect their lives. Also, Maldonado rings pretty true with his insight into urban classrooms and the mind of middle-schoolers. This was a really enjoyable book with no easy answers. Highly recommended.

I thought this was a great MG book about navigating tough friendships in a healthy way. Short and sweet!
