Felt flat overall, no depth in plot or characters. Also had some grammatical errors

This was super slow to get going with a lot of upfront exposition before we even get into the mystery, but it was also all-in with its premise, which I appreciated. Basically, it did what it said on the tin, and though I hope that the characters develop some more dimension in future books, it scratched the itch for me.

Overall story plot and wrapping up of loose ends were not at the skill level I’d like to read.

Good bedtime reading. I tend to like fluffy, cozy mysteries or paranormal stories to read before I fall asleep. This one didn't disappoint - interesting enough to read for a couple of chapters, but not a page turner that causes me to stay awake. My guess is that the characters will develop more solidly in future books.

Spells & Shelves is a fun start to a new-to-me series involving Aurora "Rory" newbie witch. It literally has everything, witches, vampires, a magical library and even a sexy reaper!
I listened to the audiobook, and I really enjoyed Hollis McCarthy's narration. Definitely planning on continuing with this series and starting Charms & Chapters next.
