Pleasantly Surprised

I was really hesitant going into this book. I never truly disliked one of the Not Hoth Characters until Skarr was introduced. So I wasn’t super thrilled to start this one. But I actually really enjoyed it.

It’s easier to like someone who is truly so unlikeable once you are inside their mind. Skarr and Vivi’s dynamic was very interesting. The shy anxious introvert to the strong arrogant loud mouth. But it worked really really well.

I can’t wait to read Tia’s story once it is released later this year. It has been a LONG time coming.

Ruby Dixon is so good at what she does! Seriously, she took braggart, blowhard Skarr and quiet, shy Vivi with nothing in common and turned them into a couple I completely rooted for. If you think about the concept of the khui and having babies immediately after coupling up, it can be pretty creepy to consider, and the author grappled with that a bit here. I also enjoyed the Ely cameo.
