CNA captured the essence of her grief in a way that was beautifully poignant and profound. Many lines touched me and will stand out in my mind forever. She hit the nail on the head by describing the painful albeit honest notion of 'the world moves on but you are still stuck in your grief.'

Incredible writing, the author really transmitted her feelings in a powerful way.

This book is a heartbreaking account of how Adichie lost her father during the Coronavirus pandemic. It would be great for anyone who needs to feel heard/seen after losing a loved one. For the same reason, I think it needs a trigger warning for anyone who has recently lost a loved one.

This one is super short, the audiobook being only an hour and a half. Adichie narrates it herself and her accent is so beautiful. I think it feels even more touching and emotional because she is narrating it.

My favorite quote from it is: "I have mourned in the past but only now have I touched grief's core."

Gut wrenching. She perfectly encapsulated how it felt losing someone while so far away

I'm well aware that our experiences are different, but I also lost someone at some point in this pandemic. It was heartbreaking, earth shatteringly devastating. The line "How is it that the world keeps going, breathing in and out unchanged, while in my soul there is a permanent scattering?" was by far the line that touched me the most. Living in a world that keeps moving while you cannot seem to move passed it, is frustrating and aching. My life is different than when it first happened, things should be better, but knowing that I don't have her to share it with is truly upsetting in ways I cannot vocalize very well. This book, while about a death that was not exactly like the one I experienced, still connected with me in the ways of the hurt and overflowing aching that each sentenced conveyed. It truly is hard to move past something, especially when you are not able to get closure in ways that may help.
