A sexy novella about old-money Consuelo, who is under the thumb of her parents' demands to keep up the faded glory of their family name with a high society marriage, and Sam, the Filipino expat from a hard-working background she fell in love with in America before her family dragged her back home. This is very much a 'rich-people-problems' story, but Sam knows that too and is pretty trenchant about the way Consuelo is in truth as much a participant in trammelling her own choices and enforcing the boundaries on her own life as her parents are. Nicely written, though with some severe head hopping (which the author acknowledges in a note at the end, made me laugh) and now comes with a charming bonus story that I loved about Consuelo's friend and the ?mildly neurodivergent guy she meets in a bar.
