It was okay. I'm not as big a fan of the Oregon crew as I am of Dirk Pitt so I knew going into this that I might be wasting my time. I wouldn't say it was a complete waste.....I mean, the ship battles were pretty cool. But overall I was either bored or exasperated the whole time reading. The ultimate baddie plot was a bit....confusing to me. The jokes were forced or fell flat. At one point a character quotes the movie Airplane!...and then mentions that the character was quoting that movie. It was like.....forced. I think the main thing that bugged me ....other than the characters would be what they borrowed from another book. Now, there is no original plot anymore. It's impossible. So I don't have a huge problem with borrowing from other books. What made me laugh audibly for the first time reading this (and with disbelief I might add) was the fact that the authors BORROWED A SPECIFIC SCENE FROM ANOTHER OF CUSSLERS BOOKS. He was borrowing and altering his own goddamn ideas....from an older book which was a hell of alot better written than this one.
I dunno if he's off his game now or if this is the co-authors fault but holy crap.

Another fantastic action packed adventure. It's no wonder The Oregon Files is my favorite Clive Cussler series. It had me on the edge of my seat unlike his other series so maybe it is Boyd Morrison doing his wonders. ..... and it had me teary eyed too.

The crew of the Oregon become victim to a bank robbery. A good portion of their money has disappeared. They put their considerable skills to work and begin to pursue the thieves. It quickly becomes apparent that there's a serious foe that is after more than a bank robbery.

The Oregon series is a wonderful adventure series. Highly recommended to all thriller/adventure fans.

My heart still aches for Mike Trono, he deserved better (but so does the whole crew so)

Clive Cussler writes a lot of books and they usually fit a basic formula. A bad guy does something, Juan and his crew on the Oregon use their special ship to stop the bad guy and then the bad guy is killed in the end.
In this story a Russian and his daughter hack into some banking systems and lock up the money belonging to Juan and his crew and lots of others. He plans to bring down the power grids in Europe and steal a lot more money. Juan goes after him. He uses his computer genius crew to work on the hacking problems. The Russian also is after Napoleon's hidden treasure. The crew also tries to thwart him in this area plus recover the treasure.
There is lots of fighting and discussions of high tech equipment both military and computer. Cussler always has some very advanced equipment in his books. Normally some of the characters would get injured but be ok in the end and so this was a little different to have one of the crew actually get killed, that was a bit sad.
