This book was wildly predictable right from the beginning and I knew exactly how it was going to end by about 25 pages in. That didn't stop it from being an incredibly fun read of the type that's absolutely perfect when you just want some "thriller trash" escapism. There was definitely nothing cerebral or even a little bit surprising about any of this, but I really enjoyed it anyway and appreciated it for the fun ride it was.

It was an interesting read though it isn’t the kind of book I usually read it was still a nice read. Though I wasn't expecting the ending at the beginnin. But it does end up giving you some clues the more you read.

This was not only the first thriller I have read but the first by Freida McFadden. And it was super good. The only part (and reason for a 4 star) was because a piece of the puzzle in there made it seem sketchy. I thought it could have been played out better or better described. The pov was too fast and collected all the information into one piece. (Trying not to make spoilers, sorry, not a helpful review I know). Overall, would recommend.

Very after school special. Everything tied up too neatly and an unnecessary little cliffy that just felt dumb

★ psychological thriller.
— slow-paced, multiple povs

"nearly all serial killers are likely psychopaths, but not all psychopaths become killers."

another unputdownable masterpiece from my favorite author, freida mcfadden! the story starts off with erika, a hands-on housewife, who seems to have a perfect family and a perfect life. until a high school girl vanished from their quiet suburban neighborhood. and erika's teenage son, liam, was the last person to see the girl alive.

first of all, i absolutely ate this book up! i was immediately interested with the story right after reading the prologue. the plot was beautiful, and it was perfectly written in the most exciting way. i honestly don't know what to say, my mind literally went blank because of how weirdly amazing this book is. the characters seem weird at first and it looked like they are all hiding something in their closet. yes, the plot twist was not as intense as the plot twist in freida mcfadden's other books, but it was very unpredictable and i did not have any idea on what's going to happen.

overall, i gave this a perfect five-star and i really had such a rollercoaster, fun, and amazing read. can't wait to dive into her other books!

Freida McFadden continues to create on-the-edge-of-your-seat thrillers with highly unexpected twists and turns. "Son" was another such book, and I enjoyed it.
