Although I did think this was a good introduction to some concepts in psychiatry via the various cases explored throughout the book, I found the author at times appeared a little ‘martyr-like’ and slightly holier than thou. Good to look at these individuals as human beings but I think in doing so the author at times herself came across a little bit superior. I thought there were some very moving stories and I’m certain that she is an incredibly compassionate and fantastic doctor. I just would have liked to see a bit more bite.

Very interesting to read about the psychodynamic perspective offered as it isn't something I tend to come across

A sympathic look at the 'evil' members of society and in a way, redemption. I am reminded of the quote from Alice's restauraunt, "Mother rapers, Father Stabbers. Father rapers! Father rapers sitting right there on thr neck next to me!"

The most remarkable, compassionate book I’ve ever read. Completely changes how you think about crime & the prison system. Sometimes a tough read but worth it
