Zyrtarisht, me Balzakun kam marrëdhënie respekti por jo pëlqimi. Mora përsipër të lexoj 'Kolonelin Shaber' (pas një 'Xha Gorioi' të braktisur me dhimbje), me idenë se mbase duhet ta nisja nga një novelë e shkurtër për të arritur shijimin e romaneve të Balzakut. Gjatë leximit të 'Kolonelit' arrija të kuptoja përmasat dhe trajtat e shpirtit njerëzor, lakminë, përbuzjen e shpresën, por prapë se prapë nuk mund të lija pa kapërcyer disa rreshta nga monologët e stërgjatë. Mbase pas disa vitesh, monologët e Balzakut do të kthehen në himne për mua, por sot 'vrulli i rrëmbyer dhe i papjekur i rinisë' (siç do shprehej vetë Balzaku), nuk më lejon të prek madhështinë e tij. 😕
