A very endearing read. The imagery was so powerful I found myself immersed in the Italian landscape with each turn of the page and turned to reading as a blissful sanctuary from the stress of life. I loved how niche the topic was as well as it’s informing on the detailed history of italy and it’s citrus past, also great for lovers of the language as I learnt a lot more vocab throughout the book. Very tender and beautiful

Fascinating, with so many unexpected branches into things I'd never have thought had to do with citrus growing. Loved her evocative, warm yet unfussy style, evokes different landscapes and communities across Italy wonderfully.

The absolute best book I could've chosen to read in Rome, where I ate local blood oranges galore and gazed in wonder at lumpy lemons from Sicily. Full of incredible facts and jam packed with heartwarming anecdotes. Just what I needed, and would recommend to anyone who loves food.

Lovely: history, travel, anecdote, and recipes. Attlee beautifully renders the tastes and smells and even textures of the astounding variety of citrus she comes upon in Italy. She visits farms, perfumeries, candy makers, revellers, and distillers, inviting the reader to join her for a peek into their traditions and to get a good whiff of their obsessions.
