There is nothing wrong with this title, it’s my own fault. I would try again.

This book was a moving story of different generations of immigrants and their experience of Australia through different periods of time.
I felt Minnie was a great character in that she represented a stark contrast to Ky, and what we expect immigrant parents and children to act like according to stereotypes.
I found it interesting that Denny didn’t end up being looped into the drug dealing/gang side of things and that his death, as tragic as it was, was the result of miscommunication, generational trauma and abuse.

This was a truly heartbreaking, beautiful, and emotional journey. The author's description and voice of each character made it feel as though they were each in the same room as me. This wasn't the murder mystery I expected, it was more focused on intergenerational trauma, family dynamics, and complicated friendships and I couldn't put it down.
