Out of all the Moomin picture books this one is the only one with a consistent lesson focused on throughout. Toffle is oblivious that he is surrounded by people who will be friends with him if he would only ask. It takes Miffle calling for help and a friend for Toffle to interact with others and to put Miffle’s needs ahead of his own.
