The author once again does an amazing job at drawing us into the Deep Ops world!! This is Wolfe and Dana’s story. This is the third book book of the series, I’ve loved Wolfe from the start he’s like the loveable teddy bear but yet you don’t want on his bad side. The story begins with them both being on a mission but they didn’t realize each other was working on. However they have worked together plenty of times as Wolfe helps Dana on her investigative stories and she supplies him with information on cases of his. They are just friends nothing more because Wolfe doesn’t want or need any distractions and he has his kitten KAT for companionship. However things don’t always work as planned. Overall amazing story can’t wait for the next one! Love this author!

Broken...what can I say - opened with some enticing bits - and continually built throughout the book - moving quickly, and sometimes so slow :) Dana can hold her own against the Wolfe; and the great metamorphosis begins for them both...there are high action moments, some light comedy to break the tension... and those sweet sexy lulls that recharge you to take the next hit....the ending was complicated and drew me in - could not put it down. Perfect read to kick off a Zanetti reading summer!!

Former Navy SEAL, Clarence Wolfe’s unit was taken out with a landmine in Afghanistan. When he realizes it wasn’t an accident he is determined to bring down the man responsible. Reporter Dana Mulberry is determined to find out what happened to her friend, even if it means going undercover at a BDSM club. When she runs into Wolfe, they decide to work together to find the information they are both seeking. But how long can they deny the attraction between them.

I was so excited to get an ARC of this book because I have been waiting for Wolfe's story since he was introduced. The sparks have been flying between Wolfe and Dana since they ran into each other and I knew their story was going to be a good one.

“I’ve always indulged myself with Sweets, Dana. You’re the sweetest thing in my life, in any life, and I’m keeping you. I love you. Always.”

Wolfe is a little crazy. He clearly suffers from TBI (traumatic brain injury) from the explosion that killed his unit. But he has learned to live with it and use it to his advantage. He is extremely controlling but Dana has a way of getting him to loosen up. Dana is the perfect woman for Wolfe because she challenges him and makes him feel alive again. She doesn’t let him hide his emotions and live for revenge.

Dana is a reporter who is known for her investigation skills. I liked her from the start. She is smart, determined, and yet still very feminne. I liked how she was always standing up to him and pushing him. She never let him control everything and wasn’t afraid to speak her mind to him.

I really enjoyed the romance between these two. It was perfect and just what I expected for this couple. Zanetti really knows how to write a great romance between characters. I really can’t wait for Force’s story. I want him to find happiness so bad.

After reading the first book in the Deep Ops series ‘Hidden’ back in 2018, I’ve been wanting to read other books by Rebecca Zanetti. So when I saw the third book in the Deep Ops series on Netgalley, I requested it immediately. Luckily, I got approved and started reading as soon as possible. ‘Broken’ is a standalone novel.

In ‘Broken’ we meet Former Navy SEAL Clarence Wolfe and Reporter Dana Mulberry. Clarence and Dana have felt this connection between them from the moment they met. But Wolfe has been clear from the start: they can only be friends. So when Wolfe and Dana accidentally meet when they are both on a job, they are both frustrated with each other. And when their job seems to involve the same dangerous people, they decide to work together. Well.. Wolfe decides he has to protect Dana.

I love Contemporary Romance novels, but once in a while I just need a little more action. So I was super excited to start reading ‘Broken’, a Romantic suspense novel, and it didn’t disappoint. Right from the beginning of the book these pages where filled with romance and definitely some suspense. And I definitely enjoyed reading it.

This book starts right in the middle of things. Clarence and Dana have already met, I think this happened in book two, and even though they have feelings for each other they try to stay professional and friends only. Although I haven’t read book two, and because of that hadn’t read about Clarence and Dana meeting.. it wasn’t something that bothered me. I was able to catch up fast enough, and enjoyed their friends/lovers conversations.

The suspense in this book was definitely nice to read. It kept me sitting on the edge of my seat. The suspense moments went by a little fast at times, but I truly enjoyed reading them. And the chemistry between Clarence and Dana was really fun to read about. I really was rooting for them from the start.

What I enjoyed the most about this read was the fact we got to read things through both Clarence and Dana’s point of view. And although some parts where a little predictable, I definitely enjoyed reading this book.

My MAN WOLFE!!!!

I've been in love with him since the beginning and his book did not disappoint.

I know there's no such thing as the perfect man, but Wolfe comes super close if he were real. I loved the suspense and the dynamic between him and Dana. For lack of a better word this was perfect.

3rd book of the series, and I've loved the hero since book 1. He's a bit insane, a bit unhinged, very sexy/tough, and with an endearing edge of vulnerability, and a love for lattes with sprinkles and kittens.  The heroine is smart, stubborn and equally tough in her own way.

The suspense plot is a combination of his past and her current investigation into her best friend's death, and they converge very well for some solid action. The build up to their relationship is great. There's attraction from the start, but the hero refused to act on it because of his past, and what he perceived to be his future. It's pretty explosive when he gave in!

Their steamy scenes are hot, with a layer of tenderness at the same time. The hero does get overly alpha/protective but the heroine does push back. I love their dynamics and their banter, honestly they're really cute together. It's really heartwarming when the hero realises that he has found his place, and the ending is great. The team is amazing as usual, love their found family dynamics and antics. Looking forward to diving into the fourth book!

I’ve been looking forward to the latest entry in Rebecca Zanetti’s Deep Ops series for a while. Broken is a very reluctant (on Clarence’s part ha!) friends to lovers romance that opens with Clarence and investigative journalist Dana trying to sneak their way into an underground sex club to solve their respective cases. When things turn sour Clarence wants to protect Dana without acting on their attraction for each other. He’s dedicated his life to vengeance.

I love how Dana reacts to his speech (and of course how they ignore it so they can act on their attraction later). The relationship dynamic between Dana and the overbearing Clarence feel realistic—even if not entirely attractive to me—as they try to figure out a balance between Clarence’s desire for control & Dana’s for independence and the dangers & demands of her job. Finally, Broken is super sexy and that’s much appreciated.

But I had some big problems with how some plot points are executed. A big event happens to Clarence & Dana and the possible implications of it are barely touched on. Also I found Dana’s continued desire to go to a cousin’s wedding—a cousin she doesn’t even like—in the face of the grave danger she’s in kinda strange.

Overall I really enjoyed this one—it’s so steamy and high octane that I couldn’t help but be sucked in—but I also couldn’t forget what feel like some plot/execution missteps for me. Looking forward to the next book in the series!

CW:

Both leads are drugged and have sex with each other. They’ve had sex before but had no immediate plans to have sex together again.

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for complimentary ARC; all opinions provided are my own.

I've been waiting for Wolfe and Dana's story, and it certainly did not disappoint! It's my favorite of the series so far!

Clarence Wolfe is a former Navy SEAL, whose entire unit, save him, was killed in a bomb blast in Afghanistan. Wolfe hasn't been quite right ever since. When he figures out that the bomb was no accident, he decides to hunt down the traitor, and get his revenge, even if it means losing his own life in the process. He had nothing else to lose, so the trade seemed worth it. He got himself embedded as the muscle in the Deep Ops team, and has been helping them solve cases, while he pursues his own on the side, but nothing prepared him for how much he would care about his team members after such a short time. Plus, there's an investigative journalist who is a friend of the team, and the pull he feels toward her is like nothing he's ever experienced. But, he can't let himself get any closer, when he might not be around in the future for her.

Dana Mulberry is trying to get to the bottom of her friend and fellow journalist's disappearance. Dana fears the worst as Candy has been gone for 2 months already, and there was a LOT of blood in her apartment. Dana is determined to figure out Candy's coded notes, and find out what story she was working on, to determine if it had anything to do with her going missing. She's undercover at a BDSM club party following a lead, and she runs into Wolfe. Turns out, both their leads have led them to look for the same man. They decide to help each other, and see if they can solve their connected cases together. But, it'll be hard being so close to Wolfe for an extended period, and not being able to act on their explosive attraction.

Wolfe and Dana have had chemistry like whoa, from the beginning, but he basically friend zoned her from the start, since he didn't think he had much of a future. Dana has always wanted him, but has tried to respect his choices. But, once she finds out he actually does want her too, all bets are off! The heat between them was awesome, and I loved watching them slowly fall into a real connection together.

The team is SO AWESOME, and I love getting to see these characters over many books, some of which have already been their own stories. Everyone is fun, smart, and quirky in their own ways, and I appreciate each of them so much. Especially crazy Roscoe, the dog with a drinking problem. He's insane, and I love him. They all have found ways to work well together, and they each have their place and purpose, and I adore their camaraderie. There are even a couple new people that show up to help this time, and I hope we'll get to know them better too! Dana's family was also AMAZING, and I hope we might see her sisters pop back up in the future!

The suspense plot here was a good one, and got even better once we learned HOW the cases were truly connected. It brought everyone together in awesome ways, and watching them all be so competent in their jobs was fantastic. Wolfe definitely wants to protect everyone from his personal mission, especially Dana, but no one will let him get away with it, and I loved that. The suspense was strong, and I felt the tension through the entire story, especially with all the sexual tension between our main couple heating up too. There was also ground work laid for Force's book, which will be next, and I CANNOT WAIT for his story. He's a hot mess, and the team shrink, Nari, is so put together, but you can tell their connection is going to be BANANAS.

The only other thing I want to mention is a bit of a content warning. Our two main characters are dosed at a party, and they end up sleeping together, and not remembering much about what happened. They had already slept together before that, so the angst of the incident is relatively low, as far as that goes, but I feel it could be a trigger for some readers.

I really loved this one so much! I'm very excited for the continuation of this series, and I hope there will be more books after Force and Nari's book next! I highly recommend this entire series. The stories are each unique and exciting, and I always love being along for the ride!
