This book doesn't come out till September but I could not resist starting it once I was approved! This is book #35 in The Argeneau series and follows Enforcer Valerian as he is tasked with protecting Natalie and her daughter from a possible serial killer. Natalie is the owner of a golf course and one evening while mowing the green she is attacked, Valerian who was finishing up his round of golf witnesses the attack and comes to her aid. While trying to help her Valerian discovers that he can not control her which means he may have finally found his life mate! I always enjoy these books, they are one of my all time favorite series and every book as just as good as the first! I especially love getting to see past characters as well as the fact that these stories have over arcing plots so the books are connected. However, this one is a good starting place because the story is a new one and the only spoiler would be seeing a few of the couples from previous books. If you are looking for a fun paranormal romance series with excellent writing, great action and swoony romance than I would highly recommend this one! This one is out September 27th but the previous 34 books are already out. Thank you Avon for my gifted copy for review!

After the Bite (Argeneau #35)
By: Lynsay Sands
Rating: 5/5

Natalie scowled at him, but then admitted, “My manpicker must be broken.”
“Your what?” Tybo asked on a disbelieving laugh.
“My manpicker,” she repeated with a glare, and then said, “My guydar.”

When Valerian finally has time off from work all he wants to do is play golf at this local golf course, like he has been doing for once but when a mistake happens with his golf cart, and he is forced to go into the clubhouse and talk to a worker or the owner he was not prepared for his life mate to be standing there. Now Valerian has to find the best way to talk to Natalie and explain what she is to him, but with a possible killer on the loose he has to try to win her love and take down the bad guy.
I first read Sands books in 2017 and fell in love with her writing style and this series. When Netgalley approved me to read and review this book I couldn’t have been more excited. I love that in this series all the main characters of the books are always some: strong, handsome/beautiful, and used to taking charge. However, whenever they met their life mates, they all become “teenager stage” again. I love that in every book not just one, but the life mates are not forced into the life of the main characters, but they’re given a choice if they want that kind of lifestyle or not.
Natalie, MF character, I love that she was not a mindless helpless character. Yes, she has had a hard life, but she was not broken and used that to help build herself back up. I love that Natalie has a child, and Valerian is accepting of this and understands that this child will become part of his life as well if everything works out with them. I really enjoyed reading the chemistry between these characters throughout the book, plus Natalie is so funny. I love all the things that she thinks in her head because duh, normal people cannot read your mind.
I really loved the twist and turns the plot had, I loved the mystery of trying to figure out who the killer was and what would happen next all while screaming at the characters to finally see what was in front of them. I really enjoyed seeing characters from other books in this one and seeing how they were doing now. I really enjoy reading books where there is a build up of the spicy scenes, now there is some spicy in this book, I would rate it at a level 2.5-3 but not so much it takes away from the amazing plot. The character development is great throughout the book you really get to watch the characters learn and adapt to new situations and understandings; the world building is on point. Sands does not disappoint, her attention to details really help you image the place and picturing how that part of the book is playing out.
If you have not read any of Sands books you really should try this series out if you’re interested in fated mates, paranormal romances, spicy scenes, great action and just funny as all get out you really should check out her books.

I received this eARC from Netgalley & Avon, Harper Voyager in exchange for my honest review.

Another great story in this series. Again Lynsay has the perfect blend of sweetness, humor, suspense and heat.

I am a big fan of this series and have followed it for years. Valerian is a golf loving Enforcer. His latest assignment is the Angel-Maker a serial killer that seems obsessed with positioning victims like angels. During his free time, he goes golfing and just happens to meet his life mate. Natalie happens to own the golf course. Natalie has caught the attention of a serial killer? How will Valerian get Natalie to decide to be with him?
This book stays true to the series and brings back favorites from the previous books. It isn’t really required to read the previous books but it helps with the other characters. I definitely loved this latest book.
Thank you Netgalley for allowing me to read this book.

while this is the 35th installment in a series it can absolutely be read as a standalone. as with any fantasy, it takes a moment to learn the characters, the worlds, everything but this was incredibly well done.

this is a slowburn (technically open door but super mild) paranormal romance between MC Valerian who is a good-guy vampire vigilante-type character who loves golf and FMC Natalie who is an over-worked single mother who is being stalked by a killer.

there is mystery, romance, great characters- both main characters and side characters, amazing world building- i loved the take on vampires, and an HEA.

a super quick, easy read with a great story
