I love the Argeneau series! In this installment, Valerian meets his "LM", Natalie on the local golf course. The rogue hunters are looking for a serial killer and as soon as Natalie is attacked they all move in on the golf course to try to find the rogue immortal they're looking for.

I found it a bit much for *everyone* to be at the golf course and Natalie just ran with it (yes, I know they can control her mind). It seemed like there were immortals everywhere. And they were all around when they needed a doctor, a chef, even a vet. I also never really understood why Natalie's "husband" wanted to marry her so much the he'd control her to do so, and frankly expected there to be more of a mystery about the "husband" than there was.

That being said I enjoyed the book and will keep on reading the series. I can't believe I have to wait another 6 months to a year to read more ;)

Thank you so much NetGalley, Lynsay Sands and the publisher for a preview copy of this book. I am giving an honest review.

3 stars - I liked it

Immortal Enforcer Valerian golfs to unwind after chasing rogues. What he doesn’t expect is to find his life mate on the golf course.

This was another enjoyable story from Sands. Valerian is a protective alpha male who has spent his life wandering the world. He is currently an enforcer and has been tasked with trying to find the serial killer Angel-Maker, who seems to be targeting Natalie and her golf course. I liked Valerian. He was sweet, protective, and will be a great step-father for Mia.

Natalie was an extremely independent and hardworking single mother. She has spent her whole life working overtime and doesn’t really know how to relax or slow down. It has taken a toll on her health and it took a threat on her life to realize this. She also suffers from guilt at not being a better mother to her deceased son. Natalie really has had a rough life but never stops fighting to build a better life for her daughter.

Like all Argeneau couples, Natalie and Valerian had intense and immediate chemistry. They couldn't keep their hands off each other, which for new life mates means you pass out in inconvenient places. I enjoyed watching Natalie learn about immortals and found her first reaction to it hilarious. Also, I liked that Valerian gave her space when she needed it and didn’t force her to listen to more truths before she was ready.

The hunt for the serial killer in this was interesting, but not as suspenseful as I was expecting. The focus was mainly on Valerian and Natalie’s relationship and acceptance of immortals, instead of the threat this killer faced. Yes, they still were vigilant and discussed safety but I felt like, until the end, it wasn’t really much of a hunt. I still enjoyed the story and this couple though. I look forward to the next book.

Trigger Warnings: death of spouse, child, and parents in a car accident; stalking by a serial killer; poisoning; pet injured;

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to review this book early. Rating and review are my own.

I always get excited with each new entry into the Argeneau series. It is my comfort romance and it has never let me down. So naturally, book #35 in this series was exactly what I needed after a long book slump.
The story follows a returning character you may have seen in previous books, Valerian as he meets his life mate Natalie and her daughter Mia, and he has to protect her from a mysterious figure that seems to be out to get her. The cast of characters in this one was fantastic. Mia and Sinbad were the cutest, I loved Aileen, and I loved seeing a bunch of characters from previous books show up to help out. But most of all I loved watching Valerian get his chance at a life mate in Natalie.

I know I mention lots of returning characters, but this story is one I think that you could pick up as a first book and not be too confused. Obviously though it is super fun to see how characters from previous books are doing and interact with each other. I recommend this for any paranormal romance lover, new or experienced with the Argeneau books.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC!

I'm a long-time fan of the series, and so I was super excited to read this one. I was not disappointed. Lynsay Sands never fails to write a book that I want to devour in one sitting, and her writing always manages to make me laugh out loud at least a few times.

I loved Valerian. Reading about the older immortals is always more enjoyable because their sense of humor tends to be more dry and enjoyable to me. Along with that, the story was a good break after so many of the last books involving Dressler. It was a great read.
