Pretty dense analyses of Scheile’s art and inspirations, but with many paintings dispersed in between kind of like a picture book 🥰. Each chapter is by a different author, and chronicles his life from birth to death. With these different authors, you get a comprehensive and multifaceted interpretation of his life and artwork. The fifth chapter was full of particularly dense art jargon but the language was mostly accessible otherwise. I am, however, unsure why the pictures of his paintings are ordered the way they are in the book as opposed to right next to the text that is referencing them.

– Egon Schiele [Oostenrijk  1890–1918]
