While I really enjoyed and took so much from Taddeo's last book, Three Women, Animal just didn't work for me. Some of the content was quite upsetting and I just couldn't continue at this time. While I appreciate talking about hard things, the dark and sarcastic tone just felt very off-putting. This was a DNF for me.

Thank you to Avid Reader Press for sending me a gifted copy and allowing me the chance to read and review this book.

Loved the writing style so much — reminded me of Stephanie Danler whom I adore. I did feel the last third of the book dragged a bit. Overall, really resonated with the musings of the main character on why she seeks the attention of men while fears relationships of women. There is also a ferocity and betrayal of motherhood explored that felt quite powerful and real.
