I really liked this, especially since I've not really read any books dealing with the suffragette movement. I would have given it four stars, but I have SERIOUS ISSUES with Leah deciding Hester's baby was Robin Durrant's because it's unlikely two blue eyed people can have a brown eyed baby, and because she saw a black and white photo of Bertie and Hester she's decided that the baby was Durrant's. That did my head in.

Genetics aside, what's with her ex-boyfriend sleeping with his step-sister? That was the most unexpectedly random thing I've seen in a book in ages, and I'm not sure what it served. It just seemed thrown in at the last minute?

Like I said, I did enjoy it. But these two points me lose my temper and the book rating lose one star.

I enjoyed reading this; not quite as compelling as The Legacy, but a great read nonetheless!

A little trite. Probably only deserved two stars, but it could be the basis of a good movie.

I loved this. Far better than I was expecting it to be. Dark, haunting and with characters you could really believe in.

The twists were boring and in a book like this, that’s really all you have. Well-written enough.

Picked it up because I was bored and wasn't expecting to like it. I liked it a lot! The plot was perhaps a little bit naff at points but I really enjoyed it nevertheless.

3.5 ⭐ = Quite Good.
A really nice writing style and I enjoyed the era, the mystery and the setting. This would have been a 4 star but I didn't enjoy the 'fairy' part of the storyline.
