Jason Gay's collection of essays on "rules to live by" didn't dictate but suggested in a humorous, wise, and entertaining way how to behave in the world today. His essays also contained bits and pieces of his family and career life. All in all a nice way to spend a few hours.

A funny, sweet read, but there are many more memorable versions of this kind of book available right now.

Poignant, funny, silly, insightful commentaries about a range of experiences. Some I related to more than others. Some felt like he was reading my mind. Gay is a good writer with a good wit, so you'll likely enjoy even if you don't relate to all of his stories.

I appreciate the direction Gay was trying to go and I thought his humor was cute… but in complete honestly, the incredibly fragmented, almost schizophrenic leap from story to story without any rhyme or reason made it difficult to keep up and the jokes got really old fast.
I just couldn’t really get the vision of this… it didn’t read much like advice over appreciating the little things, instead it read much more like a VERY fragmented and disjointed autobiography.

This is just such a happy, sweet, and hilarious little book. I'm so glad I finally read it! (Sarah, you may not remember this, but you recommended it to me after reading about it in a magazine, I think?) One star off because of mild language concerns. But all-in-all, a lovely little read & it was the perfect companion during these crazy past couple of weeks. Also, i read waaaay more words about dinner parties and touch football than I ever expected.

Sweet and, yes, funny, but lacks any bite. A little twee for my taste.

Cute, funny, quick little read with advice from one person to the rest of us -- just from experience in his own life. Maybe more a dude book, but still a cute one.

Parts were laugh out loud funny, others were quite touching. Think of a mashup between Mindy Kaling and David Sedaris....then lower those expectations slightly. The audiobook is read by the author, which I think enhances the told. This would be great for a road trip, or enjoyed with someone else, as many of the themes and topics are great conversation starters.
