I thought this was an engaging read and an eye opener to what life might be like for some in Afghanistan. I have mixed feelings about the author, and I couldn't separate that fully from the book, hence the rating.
Moderate: Child abuse, Physical abuse, and Toxic relationship
Minor: Emotional abuse, Violence, and War

It's cool that this person with a niche skillet not typically regarded as 'change-the-world' almost stumbled upon such an important need that she was so perfectly suited for. So much respect and love went into these pages about Kabul and its people, and I especially love that the afterword clarifies that most of the book profits went straight back to the school.
Moderate: Adult/minor relationship, Animal death, Death, Domestic abuse, Drug abuse, Drug use, Gun violence, Misogyny, Physical abuse, Sexism, Violence, Blood, Grief, and Sexual harassment
