I have loved all of the books in this series and they always bring me such joy. I was in need of a pick-me-up so I decided to continue the series. This was a bad idea. Not because this book is bad (I absolutely loved it) but because this is not a feel-good read. It will rip your heart out, step on it, and then slowly feed it back to you. I cried. A lot. The cries start as just complete sadness but in the end, become happy cries. Such a beautiful read about family, friendship, and life.

This book is a skillful lesson in how to write characters jn their 30s that still behave like the selves they were in high school and college. This book wasn’t gratifying and didn’t need to exist. It’s depressing, mostly because of the main plot point but also because all the girls have issues with communication (yet again) but also being honest with themselves.

I truly wanna know what made Ann Brashares say let me write a book where I kill Tibby so not only are her friends miserable, but the reader too 🙃

You definitely need to read it if you grew up with the original books and movies like I did. Reflecting as a woman now, this book really tied up some things and makes a lot more sense at this point in my life being able to relate to them again. Especially when it comes to high school friendships ❤️.

Liked it, but barely. This was a clusterfuck of plot holes. Don't come into it expecting the summer vibes the other four books give, or much joy - there isn't. Clobberingly emotional.

I do not like a major plot point that came up.

The way she kills Tibby through accidental drowning is not ok with me. Would have rather seen the girls rally around their dying friend. </spoiler>

Amazing, cathartic return to characters I loved as a teen, all grown up and grappling with quarterlife crises. There's something special about growing up with beloved characters. Thought I might cry less the second time around; I was wrong.
