I was torn between rating this a 3.5 or a 4 stars. I decided on the 4 stars because I really couldn't put the book down. It was a quick, intense read.

"The Never List" beings and it honestly felt like a sucker punch to my stomach. It was fast paced and roped me in ... and it kept up the pace and the great story development ... until about three quarters of the way in. And then it started to feel a little bit like an episode of "Criminal Minds" and "The Following" all rolled into one.

I'm not going to lie - the premise of the story is gut-wrenching scary - four girls are held captive in a cellar for over 3 years. Fast forward 10 years and their captor is up for parole. What would you do? That's the question the protagonist, Sarah is faced with. So begins the process of her trying to solve the mystery - how many more girls could have been kidnapped and what happened to her best friend Jennifer.

Face-paced and a real thriller, I was a little let down by the ending, but it is definitely worth a read.

3 and a half stars. An absolute page turner but also kinda feels like a lifetime movie in the making? And there was just so much stuff going on. I know horrific stuff happens all the time in the real world but this was definitely a Lot. I wish that maybe some of the excess plot got cut in favor of more scenes from down in the cellar, to shed a little more light on the girls’ experiences there. Especially when it came to (spoilers!) Tracy and Christine’s claims near the end.

I did really enjoy the 3 girls’ semi-friendship and how it built over the course of the book. I’m glad that Sarah wasn’t going on all these dangerous outings alone but damn girl, you don’t want to give the police a LITTLE heads up about what you’re up to? Especially when you have one on speed dial??

This book was fairly engaging, but the series of events and actions of the characters were ridiculously unbelievable.

This book at times was very tense because I was interested in what we would find out next. I loved the surprise ending it was great! The book was worth me buying at Books a Million for $5 and opening my mind up to a different type of genre than I usually read. I really liked it.

This book was definitely a page turner and at some parts had me white-knuckle-gripping my Kindle, but then there were times I literally said out loud, "Aw come on!"accompanied with exaggerated eye rolling.

It's good if you're looking for a quick beach/long road trip read for the summer.
