I LOVED this series when I read it 10 years ago. I devoured every single book as it was coming out. I am doing a re-read because I remember the books so fondly.
The cowboys are hot. The sex is HOTTER. It’s a fun look into the rodeo world and I enjoyed the character development thrown in.
But (and this is a HUGE but) there is blatant unquestioned racism, homophobia, and misogyny in this book. The terms used in the book for native Americans is appalling. There were a couple of times when I asked myself, “Did I really just read that?”
I’m hesitant to continue reading the series but I already own the books and want to put up content warnings for others. I will not be buying more books from Lorelei James.
