Veni, Vidi, Solvi—I Came, I Saw, I Solved.

A charming, feel good story that you know from the beginning will end happily. Some are suckers for those cheesy hallmark-esque romance stories, but I'm a sucker for a book with journeys of self-discovery, mysteries, and of course PUZZLES.

I quite enjoyed that each of the puzzles were given to the reader ahead of time so we could aid in the solving.

I'm still mentally in The Fellowship of Puzzlemakers house, dreaming of how incredible it and that maze would be in real life and how I'd kill to raid Pipa's room and closet.

Cute story & fun read!

This was a sweet and clever tale of a society of creators of crosswords, jigsaws, puzzle boxes, mazes, etc. I enjoyed their relationships and especially the mystery of young Clayton's origins.

This novel was, in a word, lovely. It is a cozy - albeit at times tumultuous - exploration of Clayton's origin story in the form of puzzles provided posthumously by his adopted mother, Pip. I love crossword puzzles and word games, and Burr's integration of them throughout this novel was incredibly clever and just downright fun.

The motley crew of characters who make up the Fellowship of Puzzlemakers reminded me of Richard Osman's beloved Thursday Murder Club. They are all delightful, nerdy, lovely, and just a bit witty. It's that British humor, honestly. It gets me every time. I enjoyed each character in a different way.

I loved watching Clayton's journey of self-discovery. The found family elements of this novel were beautiful. I ultimately found the entire book to be charming, creative, and delightfully nerdy. What a joy of a debut!

After reading some tepid reviews I went into this book hesitantly, but I ended up throughly enjoying it.

My favourite things:

strong character development (and likeable characters

Realistic romantic storylines

Characters who acknowledge their mistakes and grow from them.

I read before starting that readers shouldn’t bother with the puzzles and instead just enjoy the story and I somewhat agree.

This book was so warm and inviting, truly the epitome of found family. While it didn't end up being as much about puzzles as I thought, I enjoyed getting to know about all the members of the fellowship and jumping back and forth between the past and the present. This felt like a book that would be good for all ages, like a hug from a friend, and a reminder that you can find what you want in life as long as you go out and get it.
