Ridiculous fear-mongering yet again .Of course America is in decline its only natural. No empire lasts forever (and towards the end there America was definitely an empire). The British Empire, The Roman empire ,the Soviet Union they all collapse sooner or later and are replaced. The rise of China was inevitable and if it hadn't been China it would been another country .The world does need a change!

how did i end up spending money on this book??? what a crackpot. entertainingly written? sure, but there's no "there" there. i happily acknowledge that i am a liberal bordering on socialist, so i knew right off the bat that i would not likely agree with much of Steyn's opinions, but i'm a firm believer in listening to and learning from those with very different perspectives. however, i have zero interest in listening to the rantings of someone making ludicrous claims with no substantiation.

I would have given this five stars, but there were several occasions when quite distasteful and uncouth language was used, as well as several unpleasant comments on mature subjects (and not in the serious, this is the kind of problem we're facing sense, but more a sarcastic comment, almost in there for laughs...) The rest of the book was really good, however. Mr Steyn's message was quite correct. It was just a few things here and there which I disliked, and which I have mentioned above.

So funny! There are many parts that have you laughing even when you know you shouldn't be. I've read a lot of political books but never one that is informative and funny.

I was simultaneously entertained and infuriated while reading this book. Mark Steyn really is a great writer and this book is full of little nuggets of irony, humor and truth. I think (hope) it is a bit hyperbolic, but it does ring eerily true. I would highly recommend it to anyone who values American culture.

As a side note, does anyone know of the liberal equivalent of this book? Either a book that argues that it is good that our culture is going in this direction or that counters the fact that any of this is happening? If you can recommend a book like that I would be really interested to read it. Thanks!

Well this was a rather scary look at what the world will look like after America stops being a superpower.

This book is about the death of the western civilization. The decline is already evident in Europe as the entire continent is committing suicide. Low birth rates high abortion rates. Out of control immigration and assimilation problems. The evil of big government reducing people into depended drones deprived of their freedoms.

This is scary stuff and it is now happening in America.

A truly fantastic book. I say this sans hyperbole, every American needs to read this book. It is equal parts hilarious, terrifying, insightful, witty, and troubling. I swear that Mark Steyn is the Right's Eddy Izzard..

Just go get a copy of this book. I can't wait for his next work.
