Oh, I just love this book. It was fun to read it aloud to Ella, since my dad read it aloud to us when I was a kid.

My kids loved the twists that happened to all of the wished. (Older book so it is no longer politically correct. Definitely some racism and sexism in the book. Besides this things, we enjoyed the book.)

I really love Edith Nesbit’s writing style. I enjoy the way she weaves a narrative and has these short sentences that also address the reader directly.

The story was fun and light but there were some dark and scary moments that I didn’t see coming. I was also reminded about “precision of language” in Lois Lowry’s The Giver…the kids needed to be really careful using the word “wish”, which would happen by mistake.

I’ll read the rest of the series for sure.

Not really a book for me. I really didn't like the "genie in a bottle" tropes, it was annoying to see how their wishes never worked out and all the mistakes they kept making. I found myself mostly bored as well and the end was very abrupt.
