Final entry in the late Terry Pratchett's so-called Bromeliad trilogy, with the events of this one running concurrently with those of (most of) the previous entry (that would be 'Diggers') and, this time around, following the exploits of the nomes Masklin, Angalo and Gurder as they travel to Florida in the company of Thing in order to contact their ship so they can get back home (wherever that is).

A fitting end to the trilogy, with some surprisingly deep observations for what is, essentially, a kids book!

(Note: This is the same review for all three books, as they're all one story and short).
These three books were fun enough in the kind of tongue-in-cheek way that Pratchett writes. The typical power inversions were fun
Spoiler e.g. that gnomes were the smart ones that came first and had to wait for humans to develop/progress
, the misunderstandings of the world from a different perspective (e.g. how humans/trucks/malls work or what they are or why), etc. etc. That said, the story as a whole, across all three books, just wasn't that enticing. I read along more because of who the author was than the story itself.

Which is to say if you're a Pratchett fan these books are fun, and for kids particularly they might be quite enjoyable, but for the typical adult reader they were just a bit....meh. Worth a gander but not with high expectations.

It was a very good end to the trilogy. Not my favorite of the three, but still very good! I enjoyed the characters archs in this one, much more than the second book.

I want series and series of books with different Nome groups around the Globe. It would be truly spectacular.
