Not a great moment in literature and tending toward the melodramatic. But the pages turned themselves. I'd rate this a 3.5 guilty pleasure.

A powerful and (based on my experience handling these cases for 20 years) very accurate story about domestic violence. I listened to the audible.com version, and the excellent narration made the book even more gripping. As in reality, the ending to this book is not a resolution.

One of the best books i have read in a long time.
The story consists of the main characters whom are; Cathy - a young woman who suffers from
OCD and post traumatic stress disorder, due to the violent abuse at the hand of her boyfriend. Lee- the boyfriend of Cathy who at first sight seems to be very charming, caring but who has a very dark side creating doubt in cathy's mind by doing odd things moving small insignificant objects about and whom creates fear by abusing cathy severely. Sylvia - Cathy's best friend in Lancashire she is a journalist who moves to London to work on the Daily Mail, one of the friends whom doesnt believe issues that Cathy brings up due to his percieved nature but eventually believes her due to commencing a relationship with Lee. Stuart, lives above Cathy who is a Psychologist who teaches Cathy not to let the past and the OCD rule her, they become very good friends and end up married at the end of the book. :)
AN EXCELLENT READ

This book was so good! It was super suspenseful & the last half was hard to put down because I was dying to know what happened! The guy was a complete psychopath. This story had me freaked out & wondering if I had locked all my doors.

This is by far the creepiest and most terrifying book I have ever read, and I loved it. The alternate past and present narratives fully develop the protagonist, Cathy as we can see how she changes and grows throughout the novel. That ending is absolutely chilling- wow.

I loved this book. Having the two stories run parallel really made it clear what damage trauma can do. It also was nice to read about a main character that struggled with OCD. Mental illness is so taboo that I don't think it gets enough attention. It depicts her struggle perfectly.
Loved it for the story but also how it caused me to reflect inward a bit.

Crazy, freaking scary, nuts-o, lunatic, he was. Ask me in broad daylight if I'm spooked by the book and I'll probably say, "Nah...." Come back after dark with that same question and the reminders of what a whack job Lee really was will come rushing back and I can guarantee you my answer will be different.
Definitely a story that will keep you on your toes.

I liked this book about a woman who was in an abusive relationship with man named Lee, who was a former cop. She eventually escapes him and he ends up in prison. She ends up having severe anxiety and difficulty functioning. But when he is released, he starts stalking her again.khadalina's review against another edition

After such a traumatic reading, I would have preferred to see Lee come to a stickier end - but, alas, in this life justice is not always served, and this book proves that. Way too crude in places, I believe Lee's disgusting behaviour could have been depicted WITHOUT such gruesome wording.
