Let me tell you, I was a nervous wreck reading this book. My neck and shoulders were all tense, just waiting for the other shoe to drop. I don't like sitting by myself crying, or worse, looking like a crazy person when I bust out laughing, but those are always the best book. If the author is able to instil the same emotion in the reader, that main character is feeling, those are five-star books.
Catherine is a normal 20 something, having fun with friends, drinking too much, and staying out too late. When she meets Lee, she is impressed with his looks, as well as his charm. Her friends are equally taken by him, and Catherine feels lucky to have met him. That is until the controlling behavior, and abuse starts. Catherine feels alone in her feelings because everyone thinks he is the greatest. I wanted to cry for Catherine, and her situation, it was so heartbreaking! Into the Darkest Corner was a great read, and I will definitely be looking for Haynes other books.

This was a good quick read. I’d rate it at a solid 3.5! After moving to a new city Catherine is haunted and faces struggles everyday trying overcome her past. A story split between past and present seeing how this story unfolds showed great character development but what I thought to be a predictable plot line with the twist and ending.

All in all, I enjoyed the book but don’t think I’ll ever pick up again to re-read.

This book was OK.

It was supposed to be a thriller, but I didn't find it very thrilling.

The first half of the book was just masses of description of Catherine's OCD and how she met Lee. It really didn't start getting thrilling until the last 100 pages when you then found out what had happened to her, and
Spoilerthat Lee was coming back to get her.

I found the pace frustrating but the brilliant ending did make up for it. I was just sorry it took me so long to get to the end of the book.

I'm giving this book 4 stars based on the fact that it had a storyline that kept me intrigued and had me racing through the chapters to find out the ending. I liked the way the author interspersed past and present events so that you gradually put together the puzzle of why Cathy developed OCD and PTSD. There were a lot of details, especially toward the ending that bothered me or just didn't make sense. Overall, though, it was an enjoyable read (and just terrifying enough without giving me nightmares!).

2.5/5 stars.

this book had such good reviews i expected to be blown away. while it was moderately entertaining, it had absolutely nothing unique or surprising in it. it followed the formula of the thousands of similar stories in the genre: woman being abused, tries to escape, abuser tracks her down. no plot twist, no nothing.

i cant say i understand what all the fuss is about.

The ending was a little flat, but it was still an excellent first thriller for Elizabeth Haynes!
