This final book in the Aces and Eights series was an enjoyable, sweet and easy read.

And with likable characters in Rand and Kinsey. Along with some great interactions between Kinsey and her three brothers Nate, Court and Alex. I was easily engaged throughout.

However, this story did lack suspense and action. Especially compared to the three previous ones. But it was a nice read and I really liked the epilogue, which rounded off the series really well.

And I'd happily recommend Queen of Diamonds to others.

I thought this was the perfect way to end the series. I love Kenzie and Rand.

This was a pretty perfect ending to the series. We finally get to meet Kinsey and see the meet up between her and the Gentry Brothers. We also got to know more about Rand and I fell in love right along side of them. Their story was full of love and care. It made me laugh and cry. I loved Kinsey and Rand and the cookouts. There was so much fun banter. This book was a true perfect ending for everyone. I loved to see the brothers and their families. I loved Kinsey and Rand, and the story, although a bit predictable was great.
This series as a whole has been one I will probably go back and reread. Typically I don't love books written in third person and I am glad I listened to the first one on audio to get in the swing of it. The bond and family elements were ones to envy. The FBI, mystery, action aspect of these book made them binge worthy. It also had a perfect ending in this book. While I can't pick a favorite couple, or brother my favorite book was Kind of Clubs followed closely by Jack of Hearts. Overall this series is 5 out of 5.

I knew this was the last in this series, but still, I'm sad. I quickly grew to love the stories of the Gentry brothers and their new found sister. I just wish there was more.

This conclusion to the Aces & Eights series was more romance than romantic suspense. It’s quite different from the other books in the series in that the problematic undercover FBI agent parts are minimized in this which I feel makes this a much better novel than the first 3 books in the series. This book resolves the epilogue plot twist that was more or less repeated but mostly unaddressed in the first 3 books and it definitely felt like this book was more aimed at tying up lose ends than anything else.

Character-wise, Kinsley and Rand are likeable enough. This is lower angst than the last couple of books even though it deals with the particularly heavy theme of the loss of a child. I feel like the major conflict for both characters- Kinsley with the harassment and stalking and Rand with dealing with grief- were quickly Deus Ex Machina’d away without any suspense.

Overall, this has been an enjoyable series to read not because I think the plots are great (the way the undercover biker bar owner plot was executed was too implausible for even suspended disbelief), but because I really like this author and her writing is stellar even on something like this series which I wouldn’t say was her best work. If you’re a romance fan, this series is similar to the level of (un)complexity and (im)plausibility you would expect from a Harlequin romance novel.
