This book was pure genius. It was so beautiful, so heart-breaking, so pure and such a good representation of a very different culture with very different values. I appreciated how in the context of the book and even for such a pacifistic character as Patroclus
the war,
the sacrifices made sense culturally, how much honor meant, which is not understandable for us, but it was important to this story and portrayed as such. And also, at which point which violences were acceptable and not. It made it very interesting to watch this different culture and value-system and learn about it. And it is just one of the greatest and most heart-breaking
romances
to read. Incredibly beautifully written.

It is a great book inapired by the Greek Mythology (Homer's iliada). The main theme of the book is the romance between Achilles and Patroclus.

I would like Patroclus to be a good warrior from the beggining of the book.He can be a good warrior and also be kindhearted, modest, and honest. I understand that the author wanted to make Patroclus death important and emphasize his heroic spirit and his sucriface for Achilles' legacy but it is not realistic how Patroclus became ao good without training in his last moments...

I usually go in blind when reading a book except for this one. I was actually excited how the story would go because I was promised pain but I didn't really feel anything at all. The way it ended is good but I feel like
Patroclus' death was rushed in a way.

I was about to give it 3 stars but I'll give it justice because it was well written and I loved the characters.

You may know how it ends, but it will not stop the utter helplessness and despair that you experience alongside the characters when the destined for events transpire. Before it all happens though, there is so much beauty that happens. Reading has never been easier, and it’s like traveling throughout Greece. Madeline Miller writes in such a stunningly simple yet beautiful way that leaves you breathless. Spoiler:::::::But beware, the women of this story have no happy ending.
