More thriller than the others in the series. The modern day villainous characters were one dimensional and the main historical character hard to love.

Up until about 3/4 of the book, it was a clear 4-star. Both the present and the past stories were captivating and a bit more original than the past books. Then we got back to what I didn't like with the first three books, namely
Spoiler the pointless lovestory in the present with a man who is as blank as a watery cucumber. Charlie had no personality of his own, and I could not feel for their relationship (unfortunately, we had the return of Theo as well). For once, I would have seen one of the sisters happy on here own for the time being, but with her friends. I would have love to read more about Tiggy and Cal's relationship, because it felt real. The plot about Tiggy's illness also felt tacked-on and like a way of keeping her still. However, I liked the past story and the fierce Lucia. Tiggy deserved a better ending of this part of her story.

In all, still enjoyable and some parts were really good, but it was too long and a bit too repetitive for my taste.

3.5 at best. There were bits I was really into, and bits I just wanted to be through already. I am not a fan of door-mat characters, not a fan of pompous, entitled characters. There were some characters I really liked though, just didn't see enough of them.

I really like Tiggy's story.
Unlike a couple of the previous books where I needed the historical aspect to get me into the book as a whole, I really loved the modern portion of Tiggys life.
And I adored her ending.
Now on to Electra, who I suspect I won't like at all...

I absolutely loved all the characters. I worried that Tiggy was going to be a bit too out there for me, but her spirituality was very touching and well written. I also loved that this tome delved back into the mystery of Pa Salt. And now I can add Grenada to the list of places I want to visit thanks to Lucinda Riley !
