Dirty Pleasures picked up right where Dirty Billionaire left and this book started off just as fantastic as the first one. Creighton and Holly mend their relationship and hit the road on Holly’s tour. It was fun to see her so in her world and Creighton so out of his. But because he wanted this relationship to work, he let go of some of his control and went on the road with her.
There is still plenty of hot sex and getting used to being around each other but in this book Meghan March really developed the relationship between the two. And just when I think everything and everyone is on track, in love, and happily ever after is on the way Meghan throws me a curve ball and leaves me hanging for that next book.
Can’t wait to see how she brings this all together!

I liked it more than I thought; I read this while waiting in a hospital emergency room and I was smiling so that is a credit in it of itself. The story is still unnecessarily broken up into three books, leaving the components as long form chapters really more than novella - readers need to be aware of this since without accepting this as serialized fiction, as I did, you will not enjoy this.

The book follows our lead couple after they’ve had their Vegas wedding. Despite using some of the rich alpha-asshole tropes (which seem to follow billionaire stories like fruit flies on rotten fruit) this was surprisingly good. There were some predictable plot beats but despite that it did some interesting things.

After our heroine’s, Holly’s, running act at the end of Book 1, this first 50% of this book focuses on Holly’s career. Our hero, Crey, follow Holly on tour but, unlike what I was expecting, he sticks around instead of throwing Holly on his shoulder and taking her back to his cave - sorry, I meant New York. I really enjoyed that there was a focus on Holly’s career; Crey was superfluous to the events and the author did not shy away from that. It gave him a surprising about of humanity; I wouldn’t say vulnerability but there was a sense of pride and awe in how he looked at Holy which could be shared with the reader. I am more used to being told that the heroine is dedicated to her work but never shown it so good job on that.

Of course, despite some smooth writing and good inversions of expected clichés, some silly things do pop up.

As an example, around 83% into the book, there is an introduction of an ex-wife who had never been mentioned before. All this ex-wife is there to do is to exploit Holly’s trust issues and make her run again.

. I understand these instances exist to add drama but when it happens because there wasn’t enough movement in terms of character or plot it detracts from the overall book. Generally, the depiction of Holly’s music world was more real and interesting than monied society. The author had to fall back to ‘boring conversations in rich charity events and bitchy women’ as a description of Crey’s world. It really showed a lack of experience in a business or charity setting.

The ending was a bit of a low note

with Holly running again. I guess the author was trying to say that Book 1 running was Crey’s fault but this time it was Holly’s fault.

. Perhaps I was expecting the twist, I didn’t mind enough to reduce the rating. I was more seriously tempted to knock a star off as a little over 10% of the book (and I counted) was the preview for the next book. Not cool.

I wish these three books came in one actual book but I'm enjoying to see their relationship grow
