Like the Down Cemetery Road, it starts with a sort of mundane drama that escalates to a thrilling climax. Good stuff.

Zoe Boehm is my kind of private eye and Mick Herron is just the man to write about her.

The arc of suspense was a bit weird on this one - the first 200 pages there’s barely anything happening and then there’s the big showdown

Mich Herron takes his mystery writing prowess a level deeper into psychological thriller territory.

Really loving this series of books. Thrillers with surprising twists and edge of your seat suspense.

never thought i'd find myself saying this, but this Mick Herron novel was a big mess. really liked the first one in this series, but this one rubbed me the wrong way pretty much the whole way through. didn't much like the story, but it was the storytelling that was really the problem. too much talk and not enough action. the end was eye-rollingly bad. and when you have to recap the story at the end so that your readers will know what happened, then ya didn't do such a good job as an author. if ya ask me.
