I was first drawn into this series because of its dark start outlining the main character’s traumatic childhood and character growth, or more like her fight with her powerlessness at being a human, throughout the entire first book. I was genuinely hooked and interested to find out how she would surpass her fairy counterparts, but, at times, it wasn’t very believable. Additionally, when you got to the parts with the band of misfits, it got overly-cheesy and it was hard to believe this group got as close as they did in such a short amount of time — there wasn’t real development between the group and Jude (besides past histories between other members). Despite this, I loved this series because of its depiction of Faeries — not passive ethereal inhabitants of some magical far-away land, but unethical-leaning “others” prone to trickery and betrayal in infuriatingly clever ways. The author provides a colorful binary of both worlds — the human and the Faerie — providing a feeling of warmth and coloring in different ways but showing their cruel and cold undertones as well; more so where it involves the Faeries. I recommend this read to anyone who likes an underdog and wants to a very long, drawn-out romance between two characters (you never know when the Bullied and Bully will finally get together — that’s for sure — and their relationship is more than a little toxic and sadistic).

The first two books are good. I can not say the same for the third one but I love the plot, the characters,AND it is enemies to lovers so I really liked it.
