This was recommended to me and at first glance it seemed like something I'd be into. I've never really liked graphic novels, but was willing to give it a shot considering the genre. I know this is only the first volume, but it felt like a whole lot of nothing happened. The world building was scarce and really hard to follow, there are way too many characters and none are unique enough to help keep them all straight. There was way too much dialogue... it just seems unnecessary at times, and yet it was incredibly vague. Action scenes were difficult to follow, and that's coming from an avid manga reader.

The initial shock value of the opening "event" drew me in, but everything else fell flat. I never became invested in the plot (although.. could you even say there was a plot?) nor the characters... and without either aspect it was bound to be a flop for me. There are wisps of potential, but nothing meaty enough to really grab a hold of.

Delightfully creepy, mouthwatering starting point. I am obsessed with the artwork and can't wait to read more. Brb I have to go binge the other issues.
