🏈 Looking To Score 🏈 (Book 1 of the U of J series) by Alley Ciz

ℝ𝕒𝕥𝕚𝕟𝕘: 4 ⭐️ ; 0.5 🌶️

𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰:

🏈 Ya’ll I am not a slow burn girly - I usually avoid anything to do with slow burn because my heart can’t take it 😂 but holy crikey! This was worth the “f it” moment! I will say this book is not very spicy (I live in a very dark world) - so just know that it may have dirty talk but you’ve gotta wait for the f it moment but I promise you it’s worth it!

🏈 Mason: I truly enjoyed his character - he was confident and he really did chase the girl even though he is the play boy of the school. They don’t call him Casanova for nothing! I do however, feel bad for him. He was chasing and chasing and putting in the work while the FMC didn’t give as much as she took. Which can be quite frustrating until you kind of get a glimpse into the why she is the way she is.

🏈 Kay (aka PF): honestly, I didn’t know how to feel about her through most of the book. I can’t call her selfish because she had her REASONS (even if through most of this I was like “WHAT WAS THE REASON?!?” In my best Cardi B voice). And honestly, she really started to irk me off further as we go because she just wouldn’t communicate what was going on. If you like and care for someone you should trust them enough to tell them who you are - and the plot thickens!

🏈 Thank goodness the next book has been released because the cliff the sisterhood just threw me off of was LEGIT.

🏈 Inevitably I would def read this again - I like how quick of a read it is and it’s easy and fun - however there are a LOT of side characters and yes there is a whole list of nicknames but getting to figure out who is who is so daunting so that was the biggest reason I got rid of a ⭐️. Too many people introduced and not enough info!

OH Miss Ciz...
You’ve really gone and done it.
That ENDING though!!? *cue fainting meme*

I swear I was on edge with all the mystery surrounding the truth about Kay. A hint here, a hint there. If I bit my nails, they’d be nubs right now with the anxiousness I felt waiting for the truth to be revealed. And what’s worst? Miss Ciz got some explaining to do because I’m pretty darn sure there’s more to the story than what I got and I NEED IT ALL RIGHT NOW. Ok enough screaming I’ll save the rest for PMs.
Looking to Score...
First off, kudos to Alley for the authenticity of the facts involving sports. Her passion for all things sports bleed through the pages and your girl learned a little something.
The inner dialogue from both Mase and Kay was freaking hilarious! My abs got a mini workout from all the laughs. That hot, witty, and playful banter between the two: yes please.
Oh and I can finally understand why from the beginning, Jenny staked her claim on Mase. This is only book one but her claim is well placed and I’m jealous I didn’t get to lick him as mine first.
Looking to Score was a hell of a ride full of humor, swoon for days, hot steamy times, the feels from A-Z, sweet anticipation and an ending that leaves you yearning for October like yesterday.

This is the first book of Alley Ciz's that I have read and I am so glad I was given the chance to read this! I love Kay and Mase and I am obsessed with the U of J boys, I can almost forgive the ending...almost. Cannot wait to see where skittles and caveman's story continues.I highly recommend this to anyone that will listen.

This is the first book in Ciz's new series, and it is an explosive one!!!! Mason "Casanova" Nova, and Kay "PF" Dennings bring so much witt, sarcasm, and previous heartache to the table she warned us it has to be told in three books. This book focuses on building their relationship with lots of background on characters, and where they come from. Her description of the characters and scenes make the reader feel as if we are right there for every joke, volley of words, and party that all go too.

Kay is a complete anomely to Mason who usually just has to show up in the vicenity of a girl who is throwing herself at him. Kay cuts through all the BS, and forces Mason to just be himself, and he doesn't know what to do with that. She is surrounded by protective friends who would do anything to keep her safe from trouble. Kay keeps her circle small, and tight after some very difficult lessons when she was younger. She likes to keep her private life private, and Mason just doesn't know how to deal. Mason also has some difficult lessons learned from his past that creep up into the present.

Together they have to figure out how to let people in, and be open to love as well as potential heartache. This book ends on a cliffhanger and the only good thing about that is the next book will be out in October.

Well written, likeable characters , good storyline for this type of genre BUT it’s the first in a trilogy with NO warning - stopped it from a higher rating

Did not read enough to rate it, but THOROUGHLY 1 star IMO.

The moment I opened the book and there was a whole ass chart about who's referred by what initial, I knew I wouldn't like it. And boy was I right. 2 chapters into it and I'm completely done. EVERYONE is referred to by their initials, and like two pages in there are E and Em who are two separate people, as well as JT, CK, G and ANYTHING OTHER THAN ACTUAL FUCKING NAMES. WTF is this bullshit. I just CAN'T. NA books are often hard enough to read because of pointless drama, but this one was made extra hard cause of this bullshit. The only reason I had been interested in the first place was because I like size difference couples, but should have known better this time as the literal name of the series is a hashtag of a frigging acronym, which seems like a HUGE red flag in hindsight. I'm done.

Looking to Score is a book that grabs your attention from the beginning and holds onto it. The hardest part is trying to keep all the people straight and of course putting it down. Kayla aka Kay or PF calls her friends by their first letter or a combination of two letters. The inner battle Kay has with “inner cheerleader” is hilarious at times.
Mason is a typical playboy football player who doesn’t do relationships. When he sees Kay he things she is the girlfriend of one of his fraternity brothers. It’s when he finds out they are friends that his inner coach becomes unhappy. He is interested in Kay and wants to know more about her. Asks her questions brings her coffee and goes out of his way to spend time with her.
There are some secrets in Kay’s past and she tends to keep to herself and the few people she’s let in. There are hints about the past and it all makes you want to read faster to find out everything. And wham what a cliffhanger. Ahhh next book now....
