Such a fun book to read. Built on the premise that the reader is a time traveler whose time machine has broken down at some point in the past, the book offers itself as a guide to restart civilization from the ground up. About as in depth as possible for a book containing the most important human inventions since humans came into existence 200,000 years ago.

I've never had this much fun learning how to do things like domesticate animals and make penicillin.

The subject and information are interesting, but I just couldn't get past the 4th-grade-reading-level style and the not-funny-at-all attempts at humor.

With tongue planted firmly in cheek (time travel and restarting civilization from scratch), this work highlights many basic areas one needs to understand to ‘reinvent’ civilization following current establishments.
Lots of excellent information, packaged with a wry sense of humor.

It's a humorous read that offers quick snapshots into some of the most prominent discoveries and inventions that have produced and were produced by our society. Some sections were a little lacking in clarity, in my mind, and may have benefitted from more diagrams or pictures, but overall it was great.
