Like I don't hate it, but I also didn't love it, but I also want to read the next book!?!

I found it fine enough till the end. The main twist I didn't agree with, but maybe on a reread I will see it better.

I’d give this book a 3.5 ⭐️, when I first started reading the book I was confused at first with the biological aspects but I enjoyed it because it was something fairly new to me and not my first choice but I found the story unique enough to continue. The plot twist wasn’t anything shocking to me, I predicted her “killing” the prince and suspected that she lost her memory and she was really an assassin. I was right that she was an assassin not that she lost her memory. All in all, Jeneane really said ENEMIES to lovers and that was the best part honestly and I liked her story enough to read the next book.

How Does It Feel was a 3.5 read for me as I enjoyed the writing, the trials but it did not 'finish' me. I was more invested in the beginning rather than the end including the plot reveal. It had the familiar Fae betrayals, mistrustful and easily obsessed with anything beautiful.

The ‘romance’ ruined it for me. I still loved the fantasy aspect and the ‘fae’ element however I feel this book really romanticises the abuse …

from the evil prince to Callie. He got off on her tears. He tried to kill her multiple times, he tries to tear her apart emotional and psychological. Then they have sex…. It definitely crosses the line of the ‘enemies to lovers’ trope and the ‘villain gets the girl’ trope. This guy is evil and a sadist and yet he’s still romanticised.

I am in absolute awe. This book was amazing and now one of my top reads of the year. At first I thought the first couple chapters were slow going but when it picked up and how the beginning filled into the plot and everything UGH my god. The words and confessions that came from Mendax were so beautifully written. The twist at the end my jaw DROPPED. THAT is how you surprise a reader. I’m usually not too bad when spotting plot twists by my god this one surprised me. I cannot wait for the second book.

Also I was pleasantly surprised by the few moments I cackled out loud (like when she spit her tooth at him…I died😂)

🔥Slowwww burn
🌶Spicy tension filled moments
💀Touch what’s mine and die
🖤Shadow daddy
♥️Hate/disgust to love: he falls first

‼️This has dark themes so always check TW!
